      The Dept. of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. Is looking  to hire a Clinical Research Fellow for a 1 or 2 year position to work on a study of inflammation in people  with chronic spinal cord injury  in collaboration with Dr. Ona Bloom and Dr. Adam Stein, Chairman of the dept.

      Clinical Research Fellow Position

      The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research is the research branch of North Shore-LIJ Health System and an integral part of the new Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. The Institute is located 30 min outside of New York City in Manhasset, NY and is composed of more than 1,500 scientists, clinicians and staff. We stand at the threshold of an extraordinary time in medicine and The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research is a growing force in research innovation, imagination and discovery.

      The Laboratory of Neuroimmunology has an immediate position available for a Clinical Research Fellow to investigate the inflammatory response after spinal cord injury (SCI). The project utilizes biochemical, cell biological, immunological and functional genomics methods.  The Clinical Research Fellow will interact with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians working in SCI.

      Position must be filled by a physician, dentist or podiatrist who is enrolled in or has completed a residency in any specialty.
      Research fellow(s) shall be:  (a) a U.S. citizen; national; or permanent resident of the United States; and (b) a graduate of a medical (allopathic or osteopathic), dental or podiatric school located in NYS; a resident or graduate of a residency training program sponsored by an institution located in NYS; or currently reside in NYS.Additional qualifications:  Applicant must demonstrate a clear  enthusiasm for clinical or basic research and have internship/residency training in any of the following related areas: internal medicine, spinal cord injury medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, neurosurgery, or trauma surgery. Applicant must have an excellent professional record and be skilled in the following areas: organization, time management, written and oral communication, ability to work independently, ability to interact with members of a multidisciplinary research and clinical team.
