About our Speaker:
Dr. Vincent Huang is an associate professor at the Department of Rehabilitation and Human Performance, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, and the program director of the Spinal Cord Injury Medicine Fellowship at Mount Sinai. His previous academic positions include the director of the Spinal Cord Injury Program, Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, and adjunct assistant professor at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Huang is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has dual subspecialty training in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine and Brain Injury Medicine.
Dr. Huang is involved with research related to spinal cord injury particularly as it relates to the use of robotic exoskeletons to facilitate walking as well as patient education. He was the Principal Investigator for Paralyzed Veterans of America Consumer Guide on Venous Thromboembolism, and the Principal Investigator for Improving Healthcare Access for Women with Spinal Cord Injury, and is Co-Investigator on several projects. He has published many book chapters and has provided a variety of educational lectures and presentations in rehabilitation medicine and spinal cord medicine-related topics. He has received numerous grants for his past and ongoing projects and was the recipient of Alan T. Brown Foundation Standing Tall Award.
Dr. Huang performs all aspects of spasticity management especially as it relates to intrathecal therapy and botulinum toxin injections and works closely with physical therapists, occupational therapists, neuropsychologists, and other medical and surgical specialists in order to provide comprehensive care for his patients.
