Many patients go undiagnosed and untreated due to the varying symptoms of concussion. Others may have persistent symptoms. To address the latest evidence-based interventions and protocols, Hospital for Special Surgery’s Department of Physiatry, Department of Neurology, and Primary Care Sports Medicine Service will host the Concussion 2018 Updates and Controversies course.
Physicians from all 3 departments participate in the evaluation and management of concussion. Working with physical therapists and athletic trainers, we are an interdisciplinary concussion program providing expert, timely, and comprehensive care to patients suffering from concussions. Among our goals is to provide the best evidence-based care of getting patients back to school, work, exercise and sports in a safe and healthy manner. As a result of this course, participants will be able to appropriately recognize, diagnose, and manage concussions following current recommendations.
